An early entrant in the Australian marketplace, James successfully pioneered a series of integrated marketing campaigns for Hyundai, Swatch and Police in several leading Australian feature films such as Little Fish, starring Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett. This includes his 2008 campaign work for the London based internet-telephony provider Skype with the Ten Network. More recently, James was tasked with building the digital content business for RedLever in Australia with the largest independent global audience ad network, Adconion Media Group. His knowledge of international broadcast media regulation policy has also seen his inclusion to the UK Government’s 2010 consultation process on the proposed rule change to legalise paid product placement in commercial broadcast television in Britain.
James has been a regular speaker at X|Media|Lab, Resfest Digital Film Festival and Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) conference. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bond University and is a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film and Television.
As head of production at Pixel8, James counts Sofia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson and Sally Potter to be amongst his chief contemporary cinematic influences. His interest in literary works, includes plays by Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams and Sam Sheppard.
